Waiting for the sun...

It's been raining for days here in Victoria, and I feel like I haven't seen the sun in days. Sometimes the wind is so bad it shakes the windows, and being on the top floor I can often hear the rain pound on the roof. I spend my Saturday not leaving the apartment once, and watched the rain come in at a 45 degree angle at times from the comfort of my couch. And then I would see friends' posts on Facebook about the beautiful weather they're experiencing on the east coast...

So I thought it would be nice to post some lovely photos of the sun and light play, to remember what it's like.

I don't know why, but I've been really attracted to yellow things lately. Everything in yellow just looks so happy and cheerful-- it's addicting! I love a lot of the shades of yellow (especially mustard yellow!) and I keep catching myself buying yellow pieces of clothing. Love it!

One of my favorite things to do is taking photos with my Diana camera. In regards to photography, it's relatively cheap and easy to use and process. There's only four options for aperture settings, three options for focus, and little options after that. What you do with this minimalist camera after that is up to the imagination! Rolls can be hit or miss, but overall it's been one of the best investments I've made.

While the Diana can be used with the typical 35mm (as seen with the photo with sprocket holes), I tend to stick with the medium format 120mm. I've played with a lot of different film options, including black and white, color negative, and slide film. I find that slide film, although the most expensive, is the most fun. The two photos surrounding this text were cross-processed with slide film, and I consider them to be some of my best.
